Sisters of Mercy
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
"The Original House of Mercy, was built by Catherine McAuley
on Baggot Street, Dublin, in 1824. Its architecture reflects
the Georgian influence on what was the second city of the then
British empire.
It was fully restored in 1994 and opened to the
public by the at the time President of Ireland, Mary Robinson.
It became the
International centre for the Sisters of Mercy. It now represents
the organizations origins, its important historical links with
the past, and its activities in communities around the world.
More significantly it retains so much of the spirit of the Sisters
of Mercy and their great efforts to bring solace to the poor
and sick."
