PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Lore of the Land is a CD-ROM based 'interactive documentary' with
a supporting website development. The CD-ROM explores relationship
with land from both an indigenous and non-indigenous perspective.
The CD-ROM has five pathways; Land Issues, Experiences, Indigenous
Culture, Discovery and Understanding.
Each pathway has a number of interactive levels combining a
variety of rich media resources including video clips, timelines,
maps, audio and text. A key feature of the CD-ROM is an electronic
journal which allows the learner to collect various resources
as well as respond to specific questions and track their overall
experience.
Lore of the Land is a vast collection of resources which have
direct application to the key learning areas of: The Arts, English
and Studies of Society and the Environment. The interactive integrates
the resources into a series of sequences designed to assist the
learner in gaining insight and understanding of the land and
its inhabitants.
SOFTWARE USED
Lore of the Land was developed using Director 7. The interface
was created using Photoshop and Freehand 7 with some content elements
being created using Flash 4. All programming was handled in Director
using Lingo. Video was edited with Media 100 and compressed using
Media Cleaner. The accompanying website was developed using HTML,
CSS, JavaScript and Perl.
